About MAC-DVD
MAC-DVD is an independent publication covering the Apple ecosystem. We have been online since 2006, and today we help readers get more out of their Mac and iPhone with honest reviews, app roundups, and step-by-step guides that we test before we publish.
What we cover
We focus on the parts of the Apple ecosystem people use every day, split across five areas, each led by a dedicated editor:
- Mac - macOS features, system tips, and Mac software.
- iPhone - iOS guides, customization, and everyday troubleshooting.
- Apple - hardware and Apple silicon analysis across the lineup.
- Apps - Mac and iPhone software reviews and "best of" roundups.
- Guides - tested, step-by-step how-tos for common tasks.
How we work
Our recommendations come from hands-on use, not spec-sheet recycling. We cite specific versions, prices, and benchmarks rather than vague impressions, and we say plainly when something is not worth your money or your storage.
- Every article shows its publish date and is updated when the facts change.
- Technical claims are attributed to a named, checkable source.
- We test against current macOS and iOS releases on real hardware.
- Commercial relationships never decide a verdict (see our advertising and disclosure policy).
Editorial independence
Editorial independence is non-negotiable. Manufacturers and advertisers do not see or approve our articles before publication, and no partnership can buy a recommendation. When a page contains affiliate links or sponsored content, it is clearly labeled. Our job is to be useful to readers first.
Meet the team
Five specialists, each owning the category they know best.
Liam Hale
Senior Mac Editor
Liam has written about the Mac since 2009, with a background in IT support and macOS deployment across design studios. He focuses on hands-on testing of Mac software, system features, and the practical trade-offs Apple rarely spells out.
Sofia Marchetti
iPhone & iOS Editor
Sofia covers the iPhone, iOS, and the daily-driver side of Apple. A former mobile-support lead, she tests every iOS release on her own devices and is interested in the features people actually use, not just the keynote highlights.
Marcus Chen
Apple Hardware & Silicon Analyst
Marcus follows Apple hardware and the silicon roadmap, from M-series chips to display and battery technology. With an electrical-engineering background, he digs into benchmarks, spec sheets, and supply-chain signals to explain what a new device really changes.
Priya Nair
Software & Apps Editor
Priya reviews Mac and iPhone software, from menu-bar utilities to creative suites. She has spent a decade evaluating productivity tools and cares about pricing models, privacy, and whether an app earns a permanent place on your dock.
Daniel Okafor
How-To & Tutorials Editor
Daniel writes the step-by-step guides, turning fiddly Mac and iPhone tasks into clear instructions. He has run countless real-world tests on conversion, backup, and file-transfer workflows so the steps you read are the steps that actually work.
Our story
The mac-dvd.com domain has been online since 2006, starting out as a home for Mac multimedia software in the DVD-and-disc era. As the way we use Macs and iPhones changed, so did we. Today MAC-DVD is a pure content publication: no products to sell, just independent coverage of the Apple ecosystem written to help you decide what to buy, what to skip, and how to get things done.
